Financial & Business Services

  • eBay. Just about the best place to buy anything online. They have a HUGE variety of items and products available at all different price points, many of them vintage, out of production, difficult to find and/or collectible. From the seller side, this is the best place for you do retail arbitrage, and make some extra money. I don’t care what those Amazon guys say.
  • SoFi. I have my personal brokerage account with SoFi and I love it. I really like the mobile interface. It’s intuitive and makes picking stocks and building your investments easy and rewarding. I also have checking and savings accounts with them. The savings account lets you divide up your money into different “vaults” to make saving for specific goals easier and more organized.
  • Vanguard. When I was in the military I contributed to the TSP, or Thrift Savings Plan, but since I retired in 2022 I can longer contribute to it. Now all my savings for retirement go straight into my IRA, or Individual Retirement Account, that I have with Vanguard (a Roth naturally).

Fitness & Health

  • Garmin Fenix 6 Sapphire. This is my favorite fitness watch ever. I like the run programs available through it. I like the weight and feel. And I love the sleep tracking and associated data available through the Garmin Connect app. There are other good watches in this line too, available at different price points.
  • GoRuck Rucker 4.0 Rucksack. This is the rucksack I use. It’s a simple thing done to an extremely high standard and I’ve been 100% satisfied with it.
  • Saucony Endorphin Speed 4.0. Still my go to daily runner. I even tried the Endorphin Pro and went back to the Speed. It’s a great shoe.
  • Kensui Pull-up Handles. I like the pull-up bar I have on my Rogue squat rack, but I missed having a neutral pull-up grip option. These are great for that. The ones linked are Kensui’s “swissie” version, but I have just the regular handles.

Bookselling & Online Commerce

Technology

  • Apple iPhone 17 Pro. It’s hard to imagine life without a smart phone these days. Though they certainly have their drawbacks, I find mine indispensible for taking photos for my eBay listings, checking my financial accounts, and keeping tabs on my website stats. I have the 512 GB version because I need the extra storage.

Blogging & Website Resources

  • Bluehost. I’ve used Bluehost to host my website since the beginning and have been happy with the service. If you use my custom link you’ll save up to 60% on hosting.
  • Imagify. Image compression is super important when you’re maintaining a website to prevent annoying lag. If you’re interested in knowing more I’ve covered this sevice previously on the website. It’s a little old (Imagify is now part of WP Media), but a full review is available here- REVIEW.
